  Website Maintenance

Every website that we design can come with a guaranteed maintenance rate secured in your contract. The rate is valid on basic website changes—not template redesigns or major overhauls—for 1 year.

If your site is already built, but you need to make some changes, we're happy to help. We offer maintenance - only contracts for any changes you need made to your current website.

We know that accuracy and speed are two of the most important considerations in website maintenance. We double-check all of our revisions and we get them right the first time. And, we can handle most types of revisions and updates within 3 business days. Just send us an email or call us to submit a change request and we'll make your changes as soon as possible.

You can also maintain the website using the software of your choice—we hand-code our HTML so that you will be able to import it into the program of your choice. However, we don't recommend using Word or Front Page to make changes to your website.

We can also recommend a software program(s) that will enable you to make text changes to the website yourself.

  Search Engine Optimization

Wouldn't it be great if potential customers who are looking for your services would find your website on the search engines? The way to drive this traffic to your website, is to build some search engine optimization into a website design or redesign.

Our basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) process includes:

  • Assisting you in researching search phrases that will create good, qualified click-through leads for the site
  • Embedding these phrases into the code of the site, such as title tags, headlines, image ALT tags, etc

Submission of your website to major search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc.), is also available. Yahoo is fee based at $200.00 and is an extra charge.

How search optimization phrases are selected:

We select search optimization phrases (i.e., "small business logo design") that are the most likely to generate leads to your website that will turn into sales. We choose phrases based on:

  • Keyword Phrase Generation: We analyze your website's best-selling, unique products or services and creation of several keyword phrases based off of the analysis.
  • Search Behavior Analysis: We analyze and study the number of searches done on the phrases that are chosen in phase one.
  • Click-through Likelihood: The likelihood that people would click through to this site and make a purchase to this site rather than the other sites on that results page.

Our Basic principles:

  • We make pages for users, not for search engines. We don't deceive your users or present different content to search engines than you display to users, which is commonly referred to as "cloaking."
  • We avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good rule of thumb is whether you'd feel comfortable explaining what you've done to a website that competes with you. Another useful test is to ask, "Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn't exist?"
  • We don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or "bad neighborhoods" on the web, as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.
  • We don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. FHL Mobile Marketing does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to search engines.

Quality Guidelines:
In order to help your website ranking in search engines, we do NOT employ the following.

  • hidden text or hidden links.
  • employ cloaking or sneaky redirects.
  • send automated queries to search engines.
  • load pages with irrelevant words.
  • create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate content.
  • "doorway" pages created just for search engines, or other "cookie cutter" approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original content.

About ranking well for a generic term

It's very difficult to optimize for search categories that are general (i.e., "accounting"). Since there is typically alot of competition for very general phrases, it's very hard to rank well for very general searches. You'll get more qualified leads by ranking well for specific terms and phrases that your ideal clients or customers are most likely to be searching on.

Another area where specific ranking is very important: When a service must be purchased locally, such as service areas. It does no good for a service in Spain to come up for a search on "spa" done by someone in South Carolina, since they're unlikely to make a trip to Spain, unless they are travelling abroad. So, more likely that the person searching will be able to buy the service etc. locally.

Why do we run the Search Behavior Analysis?

It will not do any good to come up highly ranked in searches that people probably won't be searching on! Running the Search Behavior Analysis enables us to determine which of your Keyword Phrases would receive the most searches and thus, the most traffic.

Search engine optimization (SEO) can get you noticed, but sometimes you may need to go the extra mile to separate yourself from your competition. Optimizing your site for natural searches - implementing keywords and organizing your content in a way that makes it easy for search engine crawlers to find your site - can increase the chances of shoppers typing the name of a product they're looking for and getting a link to your site on the results page. One issue is that if you sell a popular product - like athletic shoes or CDs - it's tough to be among the top results listed when shoppers start browsing on search engines.

Paid searches can provide a shortcut around search engine clutter and bring more visitors to your site, but some companies websites are totally irrevelant to someones search terms. But by paying for placement on search engine results pages, you can almost guarantee that potential customers will find you more easily, and, hopefully, buy more products from you online.

Paid search is an online advertising program that lets you bid on specific keywords or phrases so that when a user searches for information on a particular topic on a search engine, they see your ad. Paid search results are often displayed as "Sponsor Results" or "Sponsored Links" on a results page and usually placed in a section of the page that is made to stand out with either different colors or enhanced text. When a user clicks on the ad, you're charged a nominal fee for the referral - prices start at around $0.10 a click, but average over $0.40 per click.

Paid searches can be a powerful, effective way for small business owners to generate more traffic to their web sites. The process is helping many site owners increase their online presence in a relatively short amount of time.

Getting Started with Paid Listings
To begin the paid search process, visit the popular search engine sites - Yahoo!, Google, etc. Each has its own system to facilitate the process. You'll be asked for information about your company, a written description of your site, and the keywords you think you should be listed under. The process can take as little as a few hours to complete. Follow these steps to get started:

Register your site: First, use your credit card to create an account with a paid search system such as Yahoo! Search Marketing (formerly Overture) or Google's AdWords.

Create your ad: For best results, the ad should have the actual search term near the beginning, then perhaps a special offer or feature, the company name, and a link to the page on your site that you want customers to visit. For example, if your site sells athletic shoes, your ad could say something like, "Purchase basketball shoes, running shoes, or footwear for every sport, in any size." Each ad is associated with a particular keyword and displayed beneath a link to your site on a search results page.

Choose keywords: Each ad's title and text should include the keywords for which your target customers are most likely to search. For instance, if you sell computer components, you may want to add keywords such as drives, motherboards, memory, etc., to the ad. Be as specific as possible. For example, using the keywords "business supplies" may not help customers find your computer components because they are not typing in those particular keywords.

How It Works - Bidding for Placement
Bidding on keywords is one of the most important steps in the paid search process. Your bid helps determine your advertisement's positioning in search results. In most instances, paid search networks rank you based on how much you pay. For example, if you want your ad to be displayed when someone searches for computer drives, you may be willing to pay a dollar every time someone clicks on your ad. If no one else is willing to pay more for the same keywords, Yahoo! Search Marketing will place your ad at the top of a user's results. You also can see how much others are willing to bid, which helps you determine how much you want to bid.

Some networks like Google's AdWords base advertisement positioning on bid price, but also factor in the current or past click-through rate. As a result, with AdWords, you may bid more for a specific keyword, but because your advertisement has had a low click-through rate in the past, it may still appear with less frequency than an ad placed by a lower bidder with a higher click-through rate.

While on the surface many of the paid search options appear the same, their differences are distinct. Do not hesitate to contact the companies with questions and make sure you are comfortable with the answers before proceeding.

Paid searches are a fast, efficient way to generate more traffic to your web site, but they can also be costly. They may also ensure that your marketing efforts will provide results, whereas basic SEO techniques may not. With paid search, your listing will stay near the top of a results page for as long as you're willing to pay the required fees. Taking the time to complete this process, and also spending a little extra money, may help ensure your online success.

If your Company would be interested in Paid Listings at top search engines (Yahoo, Google, MSN) -- FHL can help your business with the process and even manage your accounts for you. Bottom line -- We want your business website to achieve its maximum potential.
